Trump Attacks NYC Mayoral Candidate Sliwa Over Cats
President Trump launched an unexpected attack on Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa, criticizing his dedication to cats and his desire to have them in Gracie Mansion. Trump's comments came amidst speculation about his involvement in the NYC mayoral race, including the possibility of offering jobs to candidates to clear the way for a one-on-one contest between Zohran Mamdani and Andrew Cuomo.
Sliwa, known for sharing his home with numerous cats, defended himself and his wife's animal advocacy work. His campaign stated that New Yorkers value both people and animals.
Trump also commented on Mamdani's primary victory, calling it a rebellion against bad Democratic candidates. Meanwhile, Mayor Eric Adams, running independently, claimed that rumors of Trump offering him a job to drop out have hurt his campaign.
Cuomo continues to pressure Adams to withdraw, believing a Cuomo-Mamdani matchup would guarantee his victory.
