NYC's New Super-Express Train: A Game Changer for Commuters?
Governor Hochul announced a major upgrade to the Metro-North Railroad, launching a new "super-express" service connecting Poughkeepsie and New York City in under 90 minutes starting October 6th. The service between Beacon and NYC will be even faster, clocking in at under 60 minutes!
This significant improvement is expected to save commuters nearly 15 minutes of travel time daily, significantly impacting their quality of life. Mayor Lee Kyriacou of Beacon highlighted the economic importance of Metro-North for the Hudson Valley, emphasizing the benefits for working families and the wider community.
Metro-North President Justin Vonashek boasted of the railroad's record-setting reliability, with a 98% on-time performance, suggesting this is just the beginning of further improvements.
The faster commute times promise to free up valuable time for commuters, allowing them to spend more time with their families, pursue personal interests, or even participate in more community activities.
This initiative is a substantial win for commuters in the Hudson Valley, promising a more efficient and convenient travel experience to and from New York City.
