She's co-founded Lucinda's, a new honky-tonk bar located at 169 Avenue A, which officially opened on Thursday.
A Special Opening Night
Before the grand opening, Williams treated fans to an intimate concert on Tuesday, livestreamed on SiriusXM's Outlaw Country channel. The event featured Laura Cantrell as the opening act, and sets by DJs Moonshine and Prison Rodeo.
More Than Just a Bar
Lucinda's is more than just a place to grab a drink; it's a vibrant hub for country music lovers. The bar, overseen by Laura McCarthy and Kelley Swindall, promises:
- Weekly bluegrass nights
- Songwriter open mics
- Live country music every Friday and Saturday
- A monthly all-inclusive queer country party, the East Village Cxntry Club
McCarthy described the location as having a special energy for music, citing its history as the home of the legendary rock club Brownie's.
A Tribute and a Legacy
The venue also pays tribute to Jeremy Tepper, a friend of Williams and a key figure in SiriusXM's Outlaw Country, who recently passed away.
What's Next for Lucinda Williams?
Williams' latest album, Stories From a Rock n Roll Heart, was released in 2023. She also recently released a record of Beatles songs recorded at Abbey Road studios. She'll be kicking off August with three appearances on the Outlaw Music Festival tour alongside Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.
