Horrific NYC Double Murder: Elderly Couple Brutally Killed, Suspect Arrested
A shocking double murder has shaken New York City. Frank and Maureen Olton, a couple in their 70s, were found dead in their Bellerose home on Monday. The scene was described as "horrific" by officials.
The Crime Scene
Maureen Olton was found with extensive burns, a fractured larynx, and soot in her airways. Frank Olton was discovered in the basement, stabbed multiple times and tied to a pole. A fire marshal determined both fires were intentionally set.
The Suspect
42-year-old Jamel McGriff was arrested on Friday after a multi-day manhunt. He's been charged with numerous offenses, including first-degree murder, arson, robbery, and kidnapping. Surveillance footage placed him pawning the victims' cell phones and using their credit cards after the murders.
McGriff has a lengthy criminal history, including a 2006 robbery conviction, and was on parole. He is also a suspect in other recent robberies.
The Aftermath
The Oltons' son, a fire department EMT, discovered the horrific scene. The Police Commissioner warned residents to be cautious about letting strangers into their homes.
McGriff faces life in prison if convicted. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of home security and vigilance.

- Two counts of second-degree kidnapping
- Three counts of first-degree burglary

- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny
- Two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
- Two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
- Second-degree identity theft
- Two counts of third-degree identity theft
