Cuomo's Controversial Mosque Visit Sparks Outrage
Former Governor Andrew Cuomo faced a hostile reception at a Queens mosque during a recent campaign event. Hecklers shouted "Shame on you!" as he attempted to address Muslim voters. This incident follows criticism from Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani for Cuomo's perceived lack of engagement with the Muslim community.

Cuomo Blames Mamdani for the Heckling
Cuomo attributed the disruption to Mamdani's campaign tactics, accusing him of trying to prevent voters from hearing his message. He highlighted the ideological differences between himself (a former Democrat) and Mamdani (a socialist).
Mamdani Responds: "Islamophobic Rhetoric"
Mamdani, however, denied orchestrating the protest. He criticized Cuomo's history of what he called "Islamophobic rhetoric" and pointed to a Texas man's threats against him and his family as evidence of a larger issue affecting the Muslim community.
Other Mayoral Candidates Weigh In
Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa advocated for more free speech but stressed the need to prevent violence. Meanwhile, Mayor Eric Adams applauded State Democratic Party Chief Jay Jacobs for not endorsing Mamdani, a move Mamdani described as "out of step with the future."
A Rare Point of Agreement: Banning Horse-Drawn Carriages
Interestingly, all the mayoral candidates appear united on one issue: banning horse-drawn carriages in NYC. Cuomo endorsed Mayor Adams' executive order on this matter, with Mamdani and Sliwa also expressing support.
