Ibérico, a Spanish and Portuguese wine and tapas bar from the team behind Fort Greene staple Colonia Verde, opened Thursday, Nov. 5, at 258 DeKalb Ave., Eater NY, The Infatuation and Restaurant Hospitality News reported.

Who is behind it

Chef Felipe Donnelly and wine director Tamy Rofe, the husband-and-wife pair who run Colonia Verde down the street, are behind the new bar. Restaurant Hospitality News says the concept grew out of years the couple spent living in Portugal and their ties to Iberian winemakers, plus the neighborhood-bar culture of Madrid.

What they are pouring and plating

The wine list is exclusively Spanish and Portuguese, with vermouth from around the world and Jerez (sherry) selections, according to Restaurant Hospitality News. Alatz Ortega, formerly of The Ten Bells, built the cocktail menu and sourced the vermouths. The Infatuation flags a $14 gin and tonic among the drinks.

Tapas lean traditional: pan con tomate, boquerones, a Spanish tortilla, and Portuguese rissóis de leitão — half-moon pastries filled with shredded roast suckling pig — plus suckling-pig empanadas inspired by Lisbon’s O Velho Eurico, The Infatuation reported. Restaurant Hospitality News also notes sourdough from Camila Forero of Comparti by Colonia Verde.

Hours and how to get in

Ibérico is open Monday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to midnight and Sunday from 2 to 10 p.m., Restaurant Hospitality News said. It is walk-ins only — no reservations — according to both The Infatuation and Restaurant Hospitality News. Eater NY placed the opening at the corner of DeKalb and Vanderbilt Avenues in its November openings map.
