About this event

Flatbush Library and the Prospect Park Alliance lead a free 90-minute walk on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., about the Battle of Brooklyn, the first and largest battle of the American War for Independence. The tour starts and ends at Lefferts Historic House and climbs to the park's Battle Pass, where replica fortifications mark the spot where Pennsylvania and New England soldiers fought British and Hessian troops on Aug. 27, 1776. Guides tell the story from several angles, including the Africans enslaved by the Lefferts family and the soldiers who fought on what is now parkland. The route goes up an incline on asphalt and mulch paths, so dress for it. RSVP is requested.
