Trump Remains Neutral in NYC Mayoral Race
Despite vocal criticisms of some candidates, President Donald Trump has decided against endorsing anyone in the upcoming New York City mayoral election. This decision comes after he publicly labeled Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani as "a disaster" and "not very capable," even going so far as to threaten arrest if Mamdani hinders federal immigration enforcement.

While Trump criticized Mamdani, he also acknowledged the capabilities of former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who lost the Democratic primary but is running as an independent. He further commented on other candidates such as Mayor Eric Adams (running as an independent after a presidential pardon) and Curtis Sliwa, a recurring Republican candidate.
Despite his non-endorsement, Trump expressed his desire to "straighten out New York" and hinted at future actions from Washington to address issues within the city. He also criticized New York Attorney General Letitia James, who successfully sued him for over $450 million. He made no mention of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who convicted him on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, a verdict Trump is appealing.
Trump's decision to remain neutral in the race is a significant development, particularly given his history of involvement in New York politics.
