The Climb:
The climb, starting at 5 a.m., offers a breathtaking sunrise view of Lower Manhattan upon completion. Runners described the event as both "super meaningful" and challenging, a testament to the dedication and sacrifice of those honored.
Honoring the Fallen:
This year's climb particularly commemorated FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller and FDNY Captain Bill Burke. Frank Siller, Stephen's brother and CEO of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, emphasized the importance of remembering those who gave their lives on 9/11. He stated: "The significance of coming up here is so important to remember. To me, this is the freedom tower, it was built to remember those who gave their lives on 9/11, and to be here and still celebrate their lives and to honor for what they did that day means the world to me."
Supporting a Cause:
Funds raised from the event directly support injured veterans and first responders. Learn more about the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and their mission at their website.
