NYC Mayoral Candidate Sparks Debate with Stance on BDS and Intifada
Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, is facing a divided electorate following a recent poll. The survey revealed that while 30% of NYC voters are more likely to support him due to his refusal to condemn the phrase "globalize the intifada" and his support of the BDS movement, a significant 52% are less inclined to vote for him because of these same views.

Women, however, showed stronger opposition to his rhetoric compared to men. The survey's margin of error is ±4%.
Mamdani's victory in the Democratic primary makes him the frontrunner in the upcoming general election. His outspoken anti-Israel activism and refusal to distance himself from controversial phrases have prompted significant debate and strategizing within the city's Jewish community. This is particularly noteworthy given that NYC has the world's largest Jewish population.
This situation contrasts sharply with the current mayor, Eric Adams, who has consistently shown support for Israel and the Jewish community. Adams has even recently reaffirmed his support in light of the October 2023 attacks on Israel, adding to his popularity within this demographic. With Adams and former Governor Andrew Cuomo (who could run as an independent) representing more centrist views, the upcoming election promises a compelling political showdown.
