Ivy League Grad Indicted for Terrorism in NYC CEO Murder

Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old Ivy League-educated computer programmer, has been indicted in New York for the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The indictment includes charges of first-degree murder, multiple counts of second-degree murder, and weapons possession, all classified as felonies.

The Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, described the murder as a "brazen, targeted, and premeditated shooting." Surveillance footage captured the ambush, showing a masked Mangione shooting Thompson in the back before fleeing the scene outside a Manhattan Hilton hotel on December 4th.

Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania on December 9th after being recognized at a McDonald's. He is currently being held without bail and is fighting extradition.

The Weapon and the Words

Authorities revealed that parts of the murder weapon were 3D printed, including the receiver and a suppressor. Furthermore, bullet casings found at the crime scene bore the words "defend," "depose," and "deny." The murder is being investigated as an act of terrorism.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch strongly condemned the online celebration of the murder and the creation of materials targeting other CEOs.

Thompson, 50, had worked for UnitedHealth Group for 20 years and had two children. His death has sent shockwaves through the community, with authorities highlighting the senselessness of the act and condemning the online glorification of the crime.
