Cafe Charmant: The West Village’s New Coastal French Brasserie You Can’t Miss

The culinary empire behind O’resh and The Corner Store has expanded its footprint in New York City with the opening of Cafe Charmant, a new coastal-inspired French brasserie located in the heart of the West Village. Opened this Wednesday, this marks Catch Hospitality Group's fourth standalone restaurant launch in just two years.

A Riviera Vibe in Downtown NYC

Designed by Rockwell Group, the 70-seat space captures the essence of the French Riviera (Côte d’Azur) while maintaining a sophisticated urban edge. The interior features deep navy tones, dark woods, and leather accents that pay homage to the sea, set against lime-washed walls. Underneath swirling gilded ceilings, a red-draped bar and moody golden lighting create an intimate, transportive atmosphere.

Culinary Excellence from an Eleven Madison Park Alum

Executive Chef Jake Tyler Brodsky, known for his tenure at Eleven Madison Park, leads the kitchen. His menu blends classic bistro staples with seaside influences drawn from his time at the Palm Heights hotel in Grand Cayman. Expect dishes like:

• Classic steak frites
• Wild shrimp carpaccio
• King crab croque
• Curry duck pastel
• Razor clam pasta

Innovative Cocktails and Curated Wines

Beverage Director Lucas Robinson, who also crafted menus for O’resh and The Corner Store, brings his signature creativity to the bar. Cocktails are made from scratch using in-house ingredients and advanced techniques like sous vide and fat washing. Standouts include the Provencal Dirty Martini and the Cucumber Sour. The wine list is curated by Wine Director Emily Buse.
