The shooting occurred around 6:45 a.m. Thompson, 50, was seen on video entering the Hilton minutes earlier. He was shot multiple times at point-blank range. The gunman, described as 6'1" with a thin build, wearing dark clothing and a ski mask, fled the scene on a bicycle.

Police believe the shooting was targeted and possibly linked to a grudge against the insurance company. They have recovered forensic evidence, including a water bottle, candy wrapper, and discarded cellphone. A $10,000 reward is offered for information leading to an arrest.
The Victim:
Thompson's wife, Paulette, released a statement expressing their family's grief. His sister-in-law described him as a loving father. UnitedHealthcare also released a statement expressing their shock and sadness.
Response:
NYPD is using various resources, including drones and K-9 units, to apprehend the suspect. Governor Kathy Hochul has directed state police to assist in the investigation.
The scheduled UnitedHealthcare investor conference was canceled following the incident.
