Devastating Loss: Beloved Football Coach Perishes in Fiery Crash
On Wednesday night, a horrific accident on the Taconic State Parkway claimed the lives of four people, including Robert Violante, affectionately known as "Coach V," a cherished high school football coach from Bergenfield, New Jersey.

Three passengers in the van also died at the scene, while the van's driver remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Coach V's Legacy
Coach Violante dedicated 15 years to the Bergenfield school district, transforming the high school's football program into a playoff contender. His impact extended beyond the field; he was a mentor, father figure, and friend to countless students and staff. The school district is providing grief counseling in response to this profound loss.

Superintendent Christopher M. Tully and Mayor Arvin Amatorio both issued heartfelt statements expressing their profound sorrow and acknowledging Coach V’s significant contributions to the community. The tragedy has left a void felt deeply by students, staff, and residents alike.
The New York State Police are continuing their investigation and will release the names of all victims once families are notified.
