Thousands March for Palestine in NYC: Labor Day Protest Draws 7,000

Thousands Rally for Palestine in NYC on Labor Day

On Labor Day, thousands of protesters took to the streets of Manhattan in a show of solidarity with Palestine. The demonstration, organized in part by the Palestinian-led community organization Within Our Lifetime, began with a gathering of over 1,000 people in Union Square. The march then proceeded northbound up Park Avenue before being turned back by police at East 45th Street near the United Nations.

The protest continued to Washington Square Park, where it swelled to an estimated 7,000 participants by its conclusion. While there were four arrests during the day, there were no other incidents reported.

This demonstration follows a vigil in Columbus Circle on Sunday, where thousands of New Yorkers gathered to mourn the six Israeli hostages killed in Gaza over the weekend.

Within Our Lifetime outlined the reasons for the protest in a thread on social media, calling for an end to Israeli occupation and violence in Palestine.

The demonstration served as a powerful display of support for the Palestinian people and a call for peace and justice in the region.
