SNL Takes Aim at Mayor Adams' Indictment: 'I Live in the Skies!'

SNL Pokes Fun at Mayor Adams' Legal Troubles
The first episode of Saturday Night Live's 50th season featured a cameo from New York City Mayor Eric Adams, played by cast member Devon Walker, who was recently indicted on federal corruption charges.
During the Weekend Update segment, Michael Che welcomed Adams, who declared his innocence and quipped, "Do I look guilty to you, Michael?" Che responded with a laugh, "I mean, yeah, kinda."
Adams, in character, joked about his love for nightlife and the city's "swag," claiming, "They all say the same thing: 'thank you for bringing swagger back to the city. What was once a swag-less dump is now a swag-tropolis.'"
The segment also touched on the corruption charges, with Che asking Adams about the alleged "favors" exchanged with the Turkish government. Adams responded with, "So you want your mayor in coach, huh? New York City needs me in first class."
Throughout the bit, Adams tried to portray a close friendship with Che, which the host denied, eventually stating, "Wait, don't you actually live in New Jersey?" Adams quipped back, "I live in the skies, baby."
The segment ended with Adams' signature line, "Free Diddy!"
