Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong's New Movie About Donald Trump Premieres in NYC
Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong, known for their roles in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Succession respectively, stepped out for the NYC premiere of their new film The Apprentice on October 8th. The film, which portrays a young Donald Trump in the 1980s, has attracted significant attention due to its portrayal of a younger Trump during his apprenticeship with Roy Cohn.
Stan portrays Trump in his formative years, while Strong plays the controversial lawyer Roy Cohn. The film also features Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump, Donald's first wife.
Speaking to reporters on the red carpet, Stan shared that the timing of the film is “fortuitous.” Strong added, “We happen to be, we happen to have been part of a film that tells the story of Donald Trump’s apprenticeship with Roy Cohn, which in real life has sort of led to incalculable arm and destruction.”
Strong emphasized the movie's relevance, stating, “I think it’s essential for people in this country to see it and then make their own decisions about what kind of men these are.”
The Apprentice was met with buzz following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The film features a controversial scene that depicts a young Donald Trump raping Ivana Trump. The film, set against the backdrop of Trump's 2024 reelection campaign, offers a critical look at the origins of his political career.
The Apprentice opens in theaters October 11th.
