Rodgers Returns, But Jets Stumble in Season Opener Loss
The New York Jets' highly anticipated season opener, featuring the return of Aaron Rodgers after a season-ending Achilles injury, ended in a disappointing 32-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Rodgers, who was making his first extensive action in 20 months, showed flashes of his vintage form but struggled with accuracy on short passes. He finished the game with 167 passing yards, including a 36-yard touchdown to Allen Lazard. However, he also missed a couple of throws, including an interception, and lamented the Jets' inability to sustain drives due to a struggling ground game.
The Jets' defense also had a rough night, giving up eight straight scoring drives to the 49ers. Coach Robert Saleh expressed his frustration with the defensive breakdowns, vowing to “get that s--- fixed”.
While Rodgers expressed optimism that the team will bounce back, the Jets face a long road ahead after a discouraging start to their season.
