Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Dazzles NYC Despite Recent Tragedy
Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Illuminates NYC

The iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, a 74-foot Norway spruce from Massachusetts, was lit up on Wednesday evening with 50,000 multicolored lights and a Swarovski star featuring 3 million crystals. The tree's journey to New York began in 2020 when the center's head gardener spotted it.
The tree lighting ceremony took place amidst heightened security following a shooting earlier that day in Midtown Manhattan, just blocks away. Despite the tragedy, the event proceeded as planned, bringing cheer to the crowds. The tree will remain on display through mid-January, lit for 24 hours on Christmas Day.
After the holidays, the tree will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
