The heartwarming ceremony, held outside City Hall on January 26th, saw Public Advocate Jumaane Williams officiate. Simon succeeds Sally and will serve a two-year term.
His owner, Sophie Vershbow, shared that Simon's role is primarily ceremonial, focusing on raising awareness for animal fostering and adoption. Even better, his deputy is Pepper, a mini chocolate Dachshund!
While Simon's duties are largely honorary, his cuteness is undeniable, and his appointment is a fun way to highlight important animal welfare causes in NYC.
