NYC's Hottest Spots: From Luxury Shopping on Bond Street to Indigenous Art at MoMA
This week in NYC, the city's pulse is beating with a mix of luxury fashion, indigenous art, and new wine bars. Here's what's making our luxury list:
Ciao Bella: LuisaViaRoma Opens on Bond Street
The first LuisaViaRoma shop outside of Italy has landed on Bond Street, offering a curated selection of luxury fashion and home goods from brands like ChloΓ©, Maison Margiela, Jil Sander, and Lanvin, alongside New York designers like Gabriela Hearst, Proenza Schouler, and Helmut Lang. Spanning two floors and over 11,000 square feet, the shop includes private shopping, a VIP entrance, and is just a block away from Il Buco, where you can celebrate your purchases.
History Lesson: Arc'teryx Walk Greatly Collection
Arc'teryx has unveiled Walk Greatly, a new design platform that highlights indigenous voices. Artist and designer Cole Sparrow-Crawford, from the Musqueam Nation, has created a seven-piece collection inspired by traditional Coast Salish fishing, canoeing, and harvesting practices. The collection features shorts, tees, a hat, jacket, backpack, blanket, and shoes, some incorporating Coast Salish weaving and ancestral design patterns. Profits from the collection support Indigenous Women Outdoors.
Branching Out: Alex Katz Landscapes at MoMA
Renowned painter Alex Katz has over 100 new works on display at MoMA in the Donald and Catherine Marron Family Atrium. The exhibition, "Alex Katz: Seasons", showcases landscapes from New York and Lincolnville, Maine, including four monumental works representing each season.
Spin the Bottle: Parcelle Wine Bar Expands to Greenwich Village
Parcelle, the beloved Chinatown wine bar, has opened a second location on MacDougal Street near NYU. The new spot features a vintage Italian, French, and Scandinavian aesthetic and an impressive selection of over 500 wines, ranging from natural wines to rare Burgundies and Bordeauxs. Parcelle also offers online ordering, so you can easily stock up on your favorites.
String Theory: Suchitra Mattai Show at Socrates Sculpture Park
Artist Suchitra Mattai's first New York City solo show, "We are nomads, we are dreamers", is currently on view at Socrates Sculpture Park. Mattai's vibrant sculptures, composed of vintage saris, explore themes of identity, migration, and memory. The exhibition includes a series of large sculptures, smaller sculptures hanging from trees, and a 30-foot collage billboard.
