While much of the New York City metro area experienced heavy rainfall exceeding an inch since Wednesday night, higher elevations north and west of the city woke up to the season's first accumulating snow. Snow accumulation varied greatly depending on elevation, with reports of over 7 inches in some areas like West Milford, NJ, leading to school closures and delays. Check the full list of school closings here.

Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories

A winter storm warning remains in effect for Sullivan, Ulster, and Pike counties until Friday. A winter weather advisory is in place for other areas including western Passaic County, northern Westchester County, and Orange, Putnam, and Rockland counties through Friday morning.

NYC's Rainy Outlook

The immediate NYC area saw significant rainfall, with one to two inches recorded in many locations. Lingering showers and temperatures around 40 degrees are expected through Friday. A shower could persist into Saturday morning, followed by sunshine and breezy winds. Sunday looks to be the nicer day of the weekend.

Thanksgiving weather is still uncertain, but there's a possibility of impactful weather; updates will follow in the coming days.
