Several tour operators are already witnessing a decrease in bookings. Matt Levy, owner of Spread Love Tours, notes a significant drop in Canadian student groups, attributing it to concerns about US political rhetoric and potential travel restrictions. He predicts an even harsher impact in 2026.

Renée Rewiski, a tour guide with Tours by Foot, describes a drastic reduction in tour sizes, echoing the concerns about the decreasing number of international tourists and the resulting job security issues. She highlights the negative impact on local businesses and workers who are not directly involved in the political climate causing this decline.

Reasons for the Decline

The decrease in international tourism is attributed to several factors:
