NYC Taxi Crash on Christmas Day: Driver Suffers Medical Episode
On Christmas Day, a yellow taxi in Manhattan's Herald Square jumped the curb, striking six pedestrians. New York City police reported that the 58-year-old taxi driver experienced a medical episode, leading to the incident. Thankfully, no criminality is suspected at this time.
Injuries and Recovery
Among the injured were two Australian citizens (receiving consular assistance), a 9-year-old boy with a thigh laceration, and two women (ages 49 and 41) with leg injuries. All victims were hospitalized in stable condition. Three additional pedestrians refused medical attention.
The driver was also taken to the hospital in stable condition for evaluation.
Herald Square Incident
The incident occurred across from Macy's flagship store in Herald Square, a bustling shopping area known for its Christmas displays and tourist foot traffic. The busy intersection makes this accident particularly concerning.
