NYC Subway Corpse Rape: DHS Condemns NYT
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) criticized The New York Times for failing to mention the immigration status of Felix Rojas, the suspect accused of raping a corpse on a NYC subway. The DHS statement highlighted the omission in The New York Times’ 400-word article, questioning the lack of factual reporting.
The Crime
Rojas, who allegedly entered the US illegally multiple times since 1998, is charged with rape and grand larceny. Police reported that he assaulted a man who had died of natural causes on an R train, after first going through the victim's pockets. Authorities are investigating potential links to other crimes.
DHS Response
The DHS statement criticized open border policies, emphasizing ICE's efforts to remove criminals. They declared an intention to pursue, arrest, and incarcerate those who break the law while in the US illegally.
The New York Times has not issued a statement responding to the DHS criticism.
