NYC Public Schools Closed for Lunar New Year

This is according to the official Department of Education academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. Classes will resume on Thursday, January 30th.
This year's Lunar New Year celebrates the Year of the Snake, a holiday celebrated globally with cultural traditions, family gatherings, and wishes for good fortune.

The NYC public school calendar includes several other days off throughout the year, such as:
- Religious holidays (Good Friday, Yom Kippur, Eid al-Fitr)
- Winter, mid-winter, and spring recesses
- Other holidays (Diwali, Italian Heritage Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Election Day, Thanksgiving, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, and Juneteenth)
The last day of school for the 2024-2025 academic year is Thursday, June 26th, 2025.
