Richard Errico, a 19-year veteran of the New York City Sanitation Department, was found dead outside the DSNY garage for Districts 11 and 13 in Douglaston, Queens on Saturday evening. The details surrounding his death are still unclear.

Mayor Eric Adams and DSNY Commissioner Jessica Tisch visited the scene and confirmed Errico's passing. Mayor Adams expressed his condolences to Errico's family, friends, and coworkers, stating that he had met with the family personally.

"Richard kept our streets and communities safe and clean for more than 19 years, and we should all be keeping Richard and his family in our prayers," Mayor Adams said in a statement.

Commissioner Tisch highlighted Errico's dedicated service to the people of Douglaston, Littleneck, and Bayside.
