NYC Parents Outraged: 8-Year-Olds Spouting Diddy Jokes in Schools!

NYC Elementary Schoolers' Diddy Jokes Spark Parental Outrage

Parents are furious after discovering that elementary school children as young as eight years old are using the name of Sean "Diddy" Combs in jokes and comments at school. This follows Diddy's recent arrest on federal racketeering and sex-trafficking charges.

One mother, Vanessa Mejia, was shocked to hear her 8-year-old daughter recount a classmate shouting, "Welcome to my Diddy party!" Mejia is concerned about the potential exposure of young children to inappropriate details surrounding Diddy's legal troubles. She believes the school should ban the use of his name altogether.

Other parents at PS 11 in Chelsea share Mejia’s concerns, highlighting the inappropriateness of children making light of a serious situation involving alleged harm to others. The school administration addressed the issue by speaking with the students involved. A Facebook post by Mejia detailing the situation sparked numerous comments from other parents, many sharing similar experiences.

A Department of Education spokesperson stated that the DOE addresses such situations by meeting with families and offering counseling. The DOE emphasized schools as places of learning and growth where educators can use these situations as teachable moments.
