Metro-North's Game-Changing Upgrade: Faster, Greener Commutes to NYC
Starting October 5th, Metro-North is launching a new "super-express" service on the Hudson Line, promising significantly faster travel times between Poughkeepsie and Grand Central Terminal. This improvement is thanks to a new fleet of high-speed electric trains and upgraded locomotives.

- Reduced travel times: Up to 20 minutes shaved off regular service, with select express trains gaining up to 7 minutes.
- Eco-friendly upgrade: The new Siemens Charger locomotives operate electrically, reducing pollution by an impressive 85%!
- Enhanced reliability: The new trains are expected to reduce breakdowns, making your commute more dependable.
- Expanded weekend service: Extra weekend trips are being added to cater to autumn sightseers (leaf peepers).
Here's the schedule for the new super-express trains:
<table> <tr> <th>Departure Time (from Poughkeepsie or Grand Central)</th> <th>Destination</th> <th>Estimated Travel Time</th> <th>Stops</th> </tr> <tr> <td>6:08 a.m. (Poughkeepsie)</td> <td>Grand Central</td> <td>89 minutes</td> <td>New Hamburg, Beacon, Harlem-125th Street</td> </tr> <tr> <td>6:44 a.m. (Poughkeepsie)</td> <td>Grand Central</td> <td>89 minutes</td> <td>New Hamburg, Beacon, Harlem-125th Street</td> </tr> <tr> <td>7:05 a.m. (Poughkeepsie)</td> <td>Grand Central</td> <td>95 minutes</td> <td>New Hamburg, New Beacon, Croton-Harmon</td> </tr> <tr> <td>5:09 p.m. (Grand Central)</td> <td>Poughkeepsie</td> <td>88 minutes</td> <td>Harlem-125th Street, Beacon, New Hamburg</td> </tr> <tr> <td>5:30 p.m. (Grand Central)</td> <td>Poughkeepsie</td> <td>88 minutes</td> <td>Beacon, New Hamburg</td> </tr> <tr> <td>6:12 p.m. (Grand Central)</td> <td>Poughkeepsie</td> <td>88 minutes</td> <td>Harlem-125th Street, Beacon, New Hamburg</td> </tr> </table>This $11 billion investment in upgrading Metro-North's fleet is a significant step towards a faster, cleaner, and more reliable commute for Hudson Valley residents.
