NYC Mayor Eric Adams Faces Resignation Calls Amid Corruption Indictment: New Poll Shows Majority Want Him Out

NYC Mayor Adams Indicted, Faces Mounting Calls to Resign

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on federal corruption charges, and a new poll finds that a majority of New Yorkers believe he should resign. The Marist poll, conducted after the indictment, revealed that 69% of those surveyed believe Adams should step down.

Adams has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has refused to resign. However, the poll indicates that nearly two-thirds of New Yorkers want Governor Kathy Hochul to remove him if he doesn't resign.

Cuomo's Potential Mayoral Run: New Yorkers Say No Thanks

The poll also explored public sentiment regarding a potential mayoral run by former Governor Andrew Cuomo. While Cuomo has been widely reported to be interested in a political comeback, the poll showed that 55% of New Yorkers oppose him running for mayor.

Adams' Approval Rating Plummets

The news of the indictment has significantly impacted Adams' approval rating. Only 26% of New Yorkers approve of the job he's doing as mayor, down from 37% in November. A staggering 80% of residents believe he should not run for re-election.
