NYC Mayor Adams Faces Fresh Subpoenas in Corruption Probe
New York City Mayor Eric Adams is facing a new round of federal grand jury subpoenas as part of an ongoing corruption investigation. The subpoenas, served in July, target Adams, his City Hall staff, and his election committee.
The investigation, which began last year, focuses on whether Adams' 2021 election campaign conspired with a Brooklyn construction company and the Turkish government to illegally obtain foreign donations.
The FBI is seeking a wide range of materials, including text messages, communications, and documents.
While the scope of the investigation remains unclear, the probe has also examined whether Adams pressured New York fire officials to approve a new Turkish consulate in Manhattan despite security concerns.
Adams' spokesperson, Fabien Levy, stated that the mayor will cooperate with the investigation and expects everyone to do the same to swiftly bring the investigation to a close.
The investigation has put political pressure on Adams, who faces challengers in next year's Democratic primary.
