NYC Mayor Adams Defends Leadership Amidst FBI Investigations: 'I'm Not Going to Deal with Hypotheticals'

NYC Mayor Eric Adams Insists He's Focused on the City, Not FBI Investigations
Mayor Eric Adams addressed New Yorkers directly on Tuesday, asserting his unwavering commitment to the city despite ongoing federal probes into City Hall and the NYPD. While acknowledging the investigations have raised questions, Adams maintained that he is "surprised" by the inquiries and stressed that he has not pressured any officials to resign.
The investigations have targeted top officials, including First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright, whose home was raided by federal authorities. Wright has stated her cooperation and confidence in her innocence, echoing the mayor's stance that those under investigation have not been accused of any wrongdoing.
Despite the investigations, Adams affirmed his plans to run for a second term, stating, "I am committed to completing my term and running for re-election." He also expressed unwavering support for NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, who has been forced to surrender his phone as part of the investigation. Adams emphasized Caban's innocence, stating, "He has not been accused of any wrongdoing."
While the mayor declined to speculate on potential changes within his administration, he assured New Yorkers that he is dedicated to addressing their needs and "keeping fighting for the people of this city."
