NYC Braces for Another Day of Dangerously Cold Temperatures

A cold weather advisory is in effect for parts of New Jersey and the Catskills. Wind chills are as low as -25°.
Extreme Cold to Continue
Sub-zero wind chills were widespread this morning, and temperatures are expected to remain in the teens. While high pressure will bring some wind relief, it will remain frigid.

Temperatures will remain extremely cold overnight, but a southwest wind will bring a slight improvement, with highs approaching 30° tomorrow. By Sunday, highs are expected to reach 40°.
Dangers of Extreme Cold
Frostbite and hypothermia are serious risks during prolonged exposure to extreme cold. Symptoms of frostbite include pain, tingling, numbness, and changes in skin color or texture. Symptoms of hypothermia include shivering, slurred speech, slow and shallow breathing, or drowsiness. Remember to dress in layers and protect exposed skin.
