NYC COVID Czar Admitted to Attending Sex Parties While Urging Quarantine
Dr. Jay Varma, the former senior public health adviser to Mayor de Blasio, has admitted to attending two private gatherings while urging New Yorkers to stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic. His admission came after a conservative podcaster, Steven Crowder, released hidden camera footage of Varma discussing the parties.
Varma has stated that the footage was "secretly recorded, spliced, diced, and taken out of context" but did not challenge the authenticity of the conversations. He released a statement taking responsibility for his actions and stating that he "did not use the best judgment at the time."
Varma has been targeted by Crowder, who he describes as an "operative for an extremist right-wing organization" seeking to undermine the public health system. Despite the controversy, Varma maintains that his decisions during the pandemic were based on science and that he stands by his efforts to get New Yorkers vaccinated against COVID-19.
Public Health Crisis Amidst Scandal
This revelation comes at a time when New York City is facing scrutiny over the actions of its public officials. Mayor Eric Adams has also faced criticism regarding scandals within his administration, including resignations and ongoing probes.
The optics of these scandals have raised concerns about the city's leadership and its ability to effectively address public health and other critical issues.
