NYC Congestion Pricing: What You Need to Know
Starting January 5th, 2025, drivers will be charged to enter Manhattan's Congestion Relief Zone. Here's the breakdown of costs and exemptions:
Congestion Pricing Costs
- Cars: $9 during peak hours (5 AM - 9 PM weekdays, 9 AM - 9 PM weekends). Off-peak hours are 75% cheaper ($2.25).
- Motorcycles: $4.50 peak hours
- Small Trucks/Buses: $14.50 peak hours
- Large Trucks/Sightseeing Buses: $21.60 peak hours
- Taxis/Black Cars: $0.75 per trip
- App-Based Rideshares: $1.50 per trip
Exemptions and Discounts
Exemptions exist for emergency vehicles, government vehicles, school and commuter buses, and low-income drivers (those making less than $50,000 annually can apply for a 50% discount after their 10th toll). Learn more about exemptions and the Low-Income Discount Plan here.
E-ZPass Benefits
E-ZPass users get a 50% discount compared to paying by mail and can receive a credit for using certain tunnels into Manhattan during peak hours. Sign up for E-ZPass here.
For the first 60 days, only the congestion pricing tolls will apply; no additional fees or fines.
