NYC CEO Murder: UnitedHealthcare Boss Fatally Shot in Targeted Attack
Breaking News: UnitedHealthcare CEO Fatally Shot in Manhattan
Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was fatally shot in a targeted attack outside a Manhattan hotel on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. as he walked to the New York Hilton Midtown, where the company was hosting its annual investor meeting.

Police have released surveillance footage showing the shooter, described as a man in a jacket and face mask, firing multiple shots at Thompson from behind. The shooter escaped on an e-bike. The motive remains unclear, but authorities confirmed that the attack was not random.
"Many people passed the suspect, but he appeared to wait for his intended target," said NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
The NYPD is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Thompson's wife revealed he had recently received threats, although authorities in his hometown have not received such reports. The investigation is ongoing, and police are reviewing security camera footage, interviewing colleagues, and examining Thompson’s digital footprint.
The incident occurred near numerous tourist attractions and workplaces, prompting police to increase security measures in anticipation of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare’s parent company, released a statement expressing deep sadness and shock over Thompson’s death.
