NYC CEO Murder Mystery: Manhunt Intensifies After Gunman Flees

Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was fatally shot in a brazen attack outside the New York Hilton. The NYPD is now searching for a masked gunman who they believe left the city by bus following the Wednesday morning shooting.

The Investigation: A Cross-Country Manhunt

• The suspect, described as 6'1" with a tall, thin build, is believed to have entered NYC by bus on November 24th and left via bus from the George Washington Bridge Bus Station.
• The FBI has joined the investigation, pursuing leads across multiple states.
• Police recovered a backpack believed to belong to the suspect in Central Park, which will undergo forensic analysis.
• A key breakthrough: Unmasked photos of the suspect were obtained from a hostel where he stayed (HI NYC Hostel on Amsterdam Avenue), showing his face clearly. <img src="https://cdn.abcotvs.com/dip/images/15623858_120524-wabc-gunman-splitNEW-img.jpg" alt="Unmasked photo of the suspect">
• Surveillance footage places him at various locations throughout the city, including the subway and coffee shops.
• DNA evidence from the crime scene is being processed.

Possible Motive: A Message in the Bullets?

The words "Deny," "defend," and "depose" were found inscribed on shell casings at the scene, suggesting a possible grudge against UnitedHealthcare. Investigators are exploring potential disputes or threats against Thompson or the company.

The Suspect's Movements

The suspect's movements in the days leading up to the murder are under intense scrutiny:

• He checked into a hostel using a false New Jersey license.
• He was seen with an e-bike battery before the shooting, raising questions about his pre-planned approach.
• He appears to have known Thompson's schedule and was waiting for him at the hotel entrance.

A $10,000 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. The NYPD remains determined to bring the killer to justice.
