Mangione, found with a gun and suppressor matching crime scene footage, is fighting extradition to New York. He appeared in court yelling, "It's completely out of touch and an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their lived experience." He's been charged with murder and weapons possession. His family released a statement expressing shock and offering prayers to Thompson's family.

The Investigation: Clues and Suspect's Movements

The investigation involved:

• NYPD searching Central Park for evidence.
• Release of surveillance photos showing the suspect, including a seemingly flirtatious moment with a hostel employee.
• Discovery of a backpack and other items in Central Park.
• The FBI offering a $50,000 reward for information.

The suspect's movements were tracked: arriving in NYC on November 24th, staying at a hostel, and being seen near the crime scene before the shooting. Bullet casings reportedly had the words "Deny Defend Depose" written on them, potentially linking to anti-insurance sentiment.

Brian Thompson: A Life Cut Short

Thompson, 50, was described as a dedicated CEO. His wife revealed he had received threats. A private funeral is planned. His death sparked widespread condemnation, including statements from the White House and Minnesota's governor.
