The Suspects

Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, accused of the shooting, illegally entered the U.S. in 2023 and was released under the Biden administration. He had a prior warrant for kidnapping in Massachusetts and multiple felony arrests.

Cristian Aybar Berroa, also arrested, illegally entered the U.S. in 2022 and was released on parole. He had several pending charges including reckless endangerment and grand larceny. He was conditionally discharged by a Bronx court despite a prior order of removal.

The CBP agent, who was shot multiple times, is expected to recover. Both suspects are facing federal charges. The incident highlights concerns about illegal immigration and sanctuary city policies in New York City.
