NY Town Official Arrested for Shooting Lost DoorDash Driver
A New York town official, John Reilly III, is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting a DoorDash driver who was lost and seeking directions in Chester, NY. The incident occurred last week when the driver, while attempting a delivery in a rural location, mistakenly approached Reilly's home.
The DoorDash driver suffered serious injuries and underwent surgery. Police state Reilly told the driver to leave his property before opening fire, striking the driver once in the back.
DoorDash released a statement expressing their devastation and support for the victim, emphasizing that no one should fear for their safety while making deliveries. A relative of the victim stated that the driver was terrified and believed his life was in danger.
Reilly, a licensed firearms dealer, has been charged with assault in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of a firearm. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 9th.
