NY & NJ Drone Mystery Deepens: Federal Intervention Arrives

Weeks of unexplained drone sightings over New York and New Jersey have prompted a federal response. Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the federal government is deploying a drone detection system from Robin Radar to New York following her request for additional resources. The system's deployment to New Jersey remains unclear.

Officials Demand Action

The situation has sparked widespread concern and calls for action. Governor Hochul stressed the need for more resources and urged Congress to pass a law empowering authorities to directly address the drone issue. Governor Phil Murphy received an FBI briefing but didn't initially disclose specifics. Senator Chuck Schumer called for the Department of Homeland Security to deploy advanced drone-tracking technology.

Although national security officials claim the drones don't appear to pose a foreign interference or public safety threat, the inability to identify the source or prevent further incidents has led to demands for improved technology and stronger action. Some have even suggested shooting down the drones.
