MTA Impersonator Arrested: Man Livestreamed 'Dangerous Adventures' While Pretending to be an Employee
MTA Impersonator Arrested After Livestreaming 'Dangerous Adventures'
A Queens man was arrested for impersonating an MTA employee and livestreaming his actions on social media. The NYPD Transit Special Projects officers apprehended the suspect after he bragged about his "dangerous adventures" online.
The NYPD shared photos of the suspect's fake credentials, including a t-shirt, hat, and orange vest with the MTA logo, a toolbelt with a walkie-talkie, flashlight, and other tools.
The MTA responded to the incident with a statement:
"Impersonating a transit worker and wearing the uniform without proper authorization and training, while entering restricted areas, is a serious crime that can put real subway employees, the public, and emergency responders at risk when something goes wrong. This is not a reality show and we're grateful to the NYPD for excellent investigative work that gave this wannabe a more fitting costume — handcuffs."
Israel Santiago, 62, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including:
- Criminal impersonation
- Criminal trespassing
- Possession of burglary tools
- Forgery
The NYPD is still investigating the nature of the suspect's "dangerous adventures."
