Migrant Accused of Raping Woman at Knifepoint in Coney Island
A woman was raped at knifepoint by a migrant in Coney Island, a popular beach boardwalk in Brooklyn, according to police and sources. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday night near Surf Avenue and West 16th Street.
The NYPD identified the suspects as Daniel Bonilla Davon, 24, and Leovando Moreno, 37, both of whom are homeless. Davon-Bonilla, who faces charges including first-degree rape and sexual abuse, is a migrant from Nicaragua, an NYPD source told Fox News.
The victim, a 46-year-old woman, was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Her boyfriend, a 34-year-old man, refused medical attention after he attempted to intervene and was struck by Moreno, who was charged with second-degree assault.
The incident occurred outside a hotel housing asylum seekers. Davon-Bonilla was previously arrested in early April for a criminal sexual act.
