Mets Legend Predicts Shocking Juan Soto Outcome

Dwight "Doc" Gooden, a legend in New York baseball, is predicting a surprising turn of events in the race for superstar Juan Soto. Gooden, who pitched for both the Mets and Yankees, believes that the Mets will only go after Soto if the Yankees fail to sign him.

"I think the only way the Mets really go after Soto is if the Yanks can't sign him. Normally, you don’t ever see the two teams going after the same guy," Gooden told the New York Post.

Soto, who currently plays for the Yankees, is having an MVP-caliber season, hitting .302 with 34 home runs and 87 RBIs. He will become a free agent at the end of the season, and both the Mets and Yankees are considered early favorites to sign him.

Gooden, however, believes that the Mets will only step in if the Yankees don't secure Soto's services: "But if you're trying to win, and you're interested in Soto, ya gotta put all the friendship and personal stuff aside and do what you gotta do to make your team better."

Regardless of where Soto signs, his free agency will undoubtedly change the landscape of New York baseball.
