These images, while partially obscured by a mask, are crucial to the investigation.
A gray bag possibly belonging to the suspect was recovered in Central Park; its contents included a jacket and Monopoly money, but no weapon. DNA testing is underway.
Tracking the Killer
Surveillance footage shows the suspect leaving the scene by bus shortly after the shooting. The FBI has offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. The investigation spans multiple locations, including Atlanta, suggesting a potential connection outside of NYC.
Police believe the suspect acted alone and may have been a disgruntled employee or client, given his knowledge of the conference and Thompson's route.
The investigation involves reviewing extensive surveillance footage, social media activity, and interviews with Thompson's family, colleagues and even the suspect’s hostel roommates. Detectives have pieced together the suspect's movements: from arriving in NYC via Greyhound bus from Atlanta, staying at a hostel, to the murder scene, and finally fleeing via bus from the George Washington Bridge Bus Station.
The investigation's progress is ongoing, with authorities actively pursuing leads and hoping for a swift resolution to bring justice for Brian Thompson and closure to his family and the community.
