Kansas City Royals and Yankees Pay Tribute to 9/11 Heroes

Royals and Yankees Honor 9/11 Heroes

The Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees came together on Wednesday to honor the victims and heroes of the September 11th attacks. It has been 23 years since the attacks that shook New York City, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania.

Both teams wore hats supporting the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) as a sign of respect. The game served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by first responders on that fateful day.

A somber reminder of the cost:

On September 11, 2001, 343 FDNY members lost their lives while responding to the World Trade Center collapse. 23 NYPD officers were also killed in the attacks. The tragedy continues to impact first responders even today, with over 360 firefighters succumbing to illnesses linked to Ground Zero, and 377 NYPD members dying from similar ailments.

This poignant tribute during the Royals-Yankees game served as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of 9/11 and the heroism of those who lost their lives and continue to face health challenges in the aftermath.
