High-Powered Lawyer Defends Suspect in UnitedHealthcare CEO Murder
Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the December 4th killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan, has retained prominent New York attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo. Agnifilo, a former chief assistant district attorney in Manhattan with extensive experience in complex homicide cases, will represent Mangione as he faces a second-degree murder charge.

Investigators have discovered significant evidence linking Mangione to the crime, including:
- A match between the 3D-printed gun found in his possession and shell casings at the crime scene.
- Fingerprint matches found near the scene.
Mangione faces multiple charges, including:
- Second-degree murder
- Three counts of illegal weapons possession
- Forgery
He is currently in custody in Pennsylvania, fighting extradition to New York. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg indicated Mangione may waive extradition next week.
The Suspect's Possible Motive
Police suggest Mangione's actions may stem from frustration with the health insurance industry and alleged "corporate greed", although he wasn't a UnitedHealthcare member.
Mangione's Pennsylvania attorney, Thomas Dickey, maintains his client's innocence and anticipates a not guilty plea.
