Harvey Weinstein's Third Trial Looms
Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood producer whose 2017 scandal fueled the #MeToo movement, will face a third trial in New York. This time, the charges stem from the sexual assault case involving Jessica Mann. A previous trial resulted in a mistrial due to a juror conflict.

Weinstein was previously convicted of sexually assaulting Miriam Haley (pictured below). His sentencing for this conviction is postponed until the resolution of the Mann case. <img src="https://media-cldnry.s-nbcnews.com/image/upload/t_fit-760w,f_auto,q_auto:best/rockcms/2025-08/250913-Miriam-Haley-ch-0926-910f2b.jpg" alt="Miriam Haley">
The Mistrial:
The mistrial in the Mann case resulted from juror disagreements and threats, halting deliberations. Weinstein’s lawyer has suggested dropping the charges.
The Implications:
The outcome of this trial holds significant weight for the #MeToo movement, particularly in light of a previous overturned conviction. Weinstein remains in custody at Rikers Island.
Looking Ahead:
Judge Curtis Farber aims to hold the new trial before the end of the year. The potential impact on Weinstein's overall sentence, should he be convicted again, remains to be seen.
