Ex-Governor David Paterson and Stepson Brutally Beaten on NYC Street

Disturbing video footage has emerged showing the moment former Governor David Paterson and his stepson, Anthony Sliwa, were violently attacked on an Upper East Side sidewalk. The incident, which occurred on October 4th, involved a group of individuals, including two city housing authority workers.

The video, seemingly captured through a McDonald’s window, shows a half-dozen assailants kicking and punching Anthony Sliwa while he is on the ground. Paterson, 70, attempts to pull the attackers away, but is himself punched and thrown into a window.

The altercation started after Anthony Sliwa confronted a group of youngsters who were climbing on a fire escape. The group later returned, confronting Sliwa and Paterson.

Curtis Sliwa, Guardian Angels founder and Anthony Sliwa’s father, posted the video on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his disgust at the attack. He stated that Anthony is still recovering from his injuries and that the adults involved escalated the violence and now are trying to claim innocence.

Police have arrested two of the attackers, both employees of the New York City Housing Authority, charging them with second-degree assault. Three teenagers, aged 12 and 13, turned themselves in and were also charged. A fourth teenager surrendered but was released without charges.

Paterson, who is legally blind, served as governor from 2008 to 2010. He is married to Mary Paterson, Curtis Sliwa’s ex-wife.

Curtis Sliwa raised concerns about the escalating violence in NYC, emphasizing the need to address the issue to ensure the safety of all residents. He stated that if a former governor can’t even be safe from violence, no one is safe.
