Ella Emhoff Safe After Secret Service Incident in NYC
Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, was not in danger during an incident involving damage to her U.S. Secret Service protective detail in New York City on Tuesday.
According to a statement released by the U.S. Secret Service, an individual approached two Secret Service vehicles parked in lower Manhattan and damaged both back license plates. Agents quickly apprehended the individual, who was later taken into custody by local authorities.
"At no point was any protectee in danger as a result of this incident," the statement emphasized.
A senior law enforcement official revealed that the individual arrested, identified as Harry Heymann, likely had no idea he was interacting with Secret Service vehicles. Heymann faces two low-level charges by the NYPD.
Investigators believe Heymann was unaware of the vehicles' purpose and was motivated by concerns about parking in the neighborhood, which he had previously expressed on Twitter.
